Artist Identity

I created a mindmap that summed up the identity of the artist/singer that I am going to use in my magazine article. I thought about their image, name, the music genre and the article itself.
These are images of celebrities that have a similar fashion sense and style to what I want my artist to have/look like. I used celebrities that are also often featured on magazines that are aimed at and try to represent a similar audience to my magazine.
I also looked at what kind of clothes my artist/model will be wearing. I went on clothes websites that girls ages 11-15 (my target audience) would shop on (like newlook) but I also went on clothes websites that girls slightly older (the age that my featured artist would be) because I want her to be someone the audience can look up and aspire to be like, and various found items of clothing that would be suitable for my artist to be wearing in my magazine.

Front Cover Second Draft

This is the second draft of my magazine front cover that I created on Fireworks. It changed slightly from the first draft I made: I swapped the side that the puff and 'other features' are on, edited the background to make it more pink/ombre, and moved the masthead to the side of the page.
To create this more detailed design, first I had to decide on a name/masthead. To do this, I referred to my questionnaire/survey. One of the names suggested was 'sound', which I really liked. I chose the font and font size next. I thought that it should be bold and in a large font to make it stand out more.
Next, I chose a colour scheme. I did some research into teen pop magazines, and found that a popular colour was pink as they are aimed at younger teenage girls. For the background, I wanted to do an ombre pink effect- to keep the colour scheme going. I created a block pink background then used fireworks to make it go from darker to lighter. I also used pink, black and white for the text to stick to the colour scheme.
As my double page spread is about an artist called Olivia Weston, I made her the focus on my front cover. I made her name in a different (and quite girly) font anda  larger size. I will later add a close up of her to the cover.
